ABOUT: Mono no Aware’ (pronounced mo-no no ah-wah-reh) is a Japanese concept that reflects the fleeting nature of life and the exquisite melancholy that resides within this universal truth.
Living in Asheville, the cyclical nature is easy to recognize; life and death, seeds and blossoms, growth and dormancy all play their roles. This cycle mirrors the journey of our own lives. This series represents a culmination of my life’s experiences, including time spent in Japan when I was younger. The layers of paper, photographs, and marks represent the ephemeral quality of each memory.
This series is a reminder to embrace the fleeting beauty of life, even in the challenges and imperfections, and recognize the interconnectedness of it all and the divine wonder of life.
FRAMING: These collages are unframed. At ArtPlay Studio they are displayed in acrylic frames. These frames are available thru Wexel Art . The 15W x 18H frame works well with 11W x 14H collages. The collages also look great in a more traditional frame and mat.
